get the FRPP/Borlas!! I have more people tell me how good they sound, even non-Stang people. Seriously. If I were a guy, I'd get a woody every time I started it up.

I used to have MAC axlebacks with the X pipe and it sounded very good but was too loud so I'm looking for something different???

I'm wondering if I should go with a straight through design with the X pipe or would it be super loud like that??
I was thinking the Ford Racing axlebacks that are straight through??
Check your clamps on your axlebacks. They can come loose and you're basically then dumping the exhaust through an open pipe! I had that happen to me.

The sound shouldn't change that much over time unless they are glasspack type mufflers and you've blown the fiberglass out of them.

BTW, IMHO, the best sounding mufflers are the Corsa's since they're loud when you romp it or idle, but quiet when you cruise!

Hope this helps.

ROFLMAO!! I love it! I know how that feels!

I have a friend (fellow gearhead) in Austin that said that the first time he heard my old Dodge truck with Flowmasters on it!

I am thinking about switching over to the Magnaflow ORXP with High Flow cats.
There is no such thing as an off road x pipe with high flow cats. There off road meaning no cats and high flow meaning catted they are 2 different systems.

Dude, the off-road status is designated by legality, not the included components. Off-Road means it is designed for "track use only." You can buy off-road X-Pipes w/cats or without. If you buy one without cats, as I did, you cut the factory H pipe off and clamp to the output off the factory cats.

High flow cats have a platinum honeycomb with larger holes to allow a higher volume (or less restricted) air flow compared to stock performance for a specific vehicle. You can pickup anywhere from 10 to 15 ft lbs of torque with high flow cats and an X-pipe compared to 5 to 8 with just the x-pipe. They also have a tendency to be pretty expensive. Maganflow's setup is almost $1500.

I'm thinking about cutouts for the track, but I think I would have to build a second tune or at least copy and mod the one I have now.

I would have to put the cheap ones on and hope with the covers bolted in place, the state safety inspector doesn't give me crap. They are 100% illegal here.

I just bought JBA axle backs so I'll give them a try....Here's why I bought them.. Sounds pretty good to me. You can hear a little rasp but not bad.

So you guys say that Mac is loud? I have BBK Long Tubes and BBK O/R X-pipe and I think I have finally decided to go with axle backs. I really want mac.

This is the current sound:
