The article he had listed in the first post said 60-70 lbs heavier than stock, the only thing keeping me from getting one.

thats about right, we measured almost 70lbs difference on my car. i then added a Racecraft K member, A Arms, and that saved about half the weight. But now im also making another 60 more peak RWHP and 80 fltbs of torque!! it kinda offsets the weight right there!

about 70lbs heavier than stock aluminum

M-6010-BOSS50

how is it that the block is the reason for the 60rwhp/80tq gains?

Boss block is a big bore so that is about 20 more cubes than a stock bore stroke aluminum block or about 30 more cubes than a stroked standard bored 4.6.

Not the block, the displacement in the cu in will add power and torque however. My car went from a 298 to a 319 and thats the power difference i saw

What is the largest cubic inch you can go with this block? I've got the money and a built motor is my future so I can turn the boost up. Or should I just stay with the stock 4.6 aluminum block? I want to stay on 93 octane and maybe add a meth kit down the road.

$5000 for a fully assembled shortblock that has about 9.5:1 compression and approx 319 cu in displacement. We are looking at building some of these as well! We have two of these in test cars right now including mine!

You can get close to 330 cu inches out of these blocks safely but i dont like pushing it that far at first. We keep the block standard so it has as much meat in the wall for protection, longevity, and the opportunity to open it up larger down the road if necessary.
