I checked again today and the yoke goes on the splines and then stops about 3/8" in. Im thinking there is a bushing there that is smaller then the yoke I have . They are both supposed to be the correct parts though.

Any Ideas ?

ditch the 1330 series stuff. go 1350. you got a f1-a blower, i expect your making power. 1330 isnt gonig to cut it on high hp and weight of these cars. not for long

Do you know where to get a 1350 yoke for the 4r70w ?

I honestly do not know, but i did find this:
http://www.modularfords.com/forums/f17/1350-series-slip-yolk-4r70w-76157/

To be honest, When i got my driveshaft swapped from 1330 to 1350 for the rear end side, my buddy whom has built 7 sec cars, asked me why i didnt get the slip yoke changed to 1350 so I jsut assumed there was one.

Apparently there may not be for a 4R70w but according to that link, you can swap the tail section to that of a C4 and achieve a 1350 yoke.

Looking at this http://www.becontrols.com/tech/ch4usedtrans.htm , The C4 yoke may work with the 4r70w. I will check the part number on the tail shaft housing I have and post it.

i think this is gonig to be a winter swap for me. After seeing the difference between a 1330 ujoint and a 1350 ujoint and supporting yokes, I do not like having the 1330 in there whatsoever.

From the above link'

Many AOD-E/4R70W units (especially later and wide ratio units) use an extension housing with a larger output bushing. This housing accepts a slip yoke with a larger outside diameter. This is not a major problem, as the slip yoke or extension housing can be changed and all output shafts share the same 28-spline profile as an AOD or C-4 transmission. An AOD-style extension housing can easily be bolted onto an AOD-E/4R70W. The large bushing housing bears a casting number beginning with "F3LP" for the standard length and "F3UP" for the long unit. The small standard length housings are marked with either "F2TP" or "E0AP". The small bushing long version is marked as "E0TP" or "E0LP" and is probably only used with the AOD transmission.

And of coarse you cannot see the part number with the trans in the car...

and yet again more searching finds this

1350 slip yoke for the 4r70W

http://www.iedls.com/Yokes/Custom-Quick-Release.asp

Thanks, I will give them a call.

Seems odd to me after reading what I have that Lentech uses the tail shaft housing that uses the smaller diamiter shaft size 1330 yoke in there highest rated 4r70w.

if the 1330 was good enough, then why does everyone change to 1350 on the rear end side? also dont forget weight of the vehicle plays a huge factor. 1330 might be good for 900hp in a 3000lbs car but maybe not in a close to 4000lbs car.

I agree. I saw some 1410 stuff today (not for our setups), talk about stout!

You need an AOD extension housing and then you can get a Strange Engineering slip yoke for the C4/AOD which uses a 1350 u-joint. I'd go with the Chromoly slip yoke if you are making 800rwhp.

Strange part # U1668 (chromoly C4/AOD slip yoke)

Does your existing tailhousing have a casting number? F3LP or F3UP?
You may already have a C4 or AOD tailhousing which would be why the yoke doesn't slip in. The 4R70W has the same spline count as the C4/AOD (28 spline), but the O.D. of the slip yoke and I.D. of the extension housing bushing are slightly larger.

If you have an inside mic or dial bore gauge then measure the tailhousing bushing I.D. and then measure the O.D. of the slip yoke. C4/AOD slip yokes measure 1.498" and the 4r70w measures 1.590". The tailhousing will have to be removed for the measuring though.

Great info. Might be far easier if the Inlands Empire one fits directly, that way you arent changing tailhousings though. gotta find out first.
