After 2 years of chasing that belt squeak, everything was starting to gel.

A little backstory:
At cold startup the car would run rough for a few minutes. I duno what it could be so I just drove it easy till it got better. (i know in hindsight...etc.)

Well Saturday I met some new local stangers and one asked me for a rev. I had just started the car and forgot about my rough running...and gave him a wot redline rev. Well, blammo. Sounds like I did something internal....guessing a rod.

Assuming this to be the case, I need a shortblock. I dont wanna fall into the trap of getting more block than i need, so heres the plans, maybe you guys can steer me in the right direction:

Ford racing whipple intercooled
11 psi
8 rib
thumprrr tensioner.
GT500 fuel pumps that came in the ford kit.

I would like to get the most I can out of that whipple blower-no plans to change

I would like to ability to add nitrous later (more the better)

It sounds to me like the aluminator is overkill.
MMR though cost effective....well you guys know why I dont want that
BBR has a nice shortblock but its not a forged crank.
I think I want to stick wiht aluminum block for the weight savings.
What do u guys reccomend.

the BBR set up certainly could be built with a forged crank if you want. if you have $$$ you can get just about anything.

well yea thats the issue. non unlimited money. How much boost can I get out of a frpp whipple? That plus a nitrous shot...duno how much is reasonable. Ive been combing the internet and cant find any good builds I can "copy." I just dont wanna dump tons of money into a motor that I will never use to its full potential.

but max boost on that blower plus say a 150 shot would be over 600 i hope. And im assuming we are talking about hp at the crank. I was making 500 at the wheels wiiht the stock block and 11 psi.

I'm running my Whipple HO at 16 psi with the Steeda 10-rib drive base kit - they also have a high boost lower pulley and belt. Good for 20 psi I think.

Damn, sorry for the misfortune...I feel your pain. I'm going to start my build this week. My goal is 11.5 since I'm not putting a cage in the car. If it goes a little faster, then fine, but I can always put on a bigger pulley.

I went with the Livernois 298ci, stock heads/cams, and leaving the Saleen on-top. If later I want more than ~550rwhp, then I can always go with a Whipple, but at least the motor will be there to support that.

Even though the Kellogg is a forged crank its made of the same material that the stockers our made out of.

Stick with the stocker IMO.

Have you thought about looking into ModMax Racing?? They have some great deals on completely forged rotating assemblies.....A few other members on here can help you out as well with ModMax......

Oh, and your stock block will handle it....They hold a good bit of power....As long as it didn't hurt it this time.....

just one thing to think about while rebuilding.. "What caused the problems"

I had start up issues for a long time. The tuner didnt bolt up one side of the Down pipe.. ran for a long time not knowing and later caused engine damage. He even took it back and fixed it a little ( Dumping allot of gas when cold).. that only made things worse later. While you have everything apart I would double tighten all exhaust/header bolts and check your cats.. I found out 2 weeks ago that one is toast... guess which side. ... if its not that it might be with the tune... just some things to look for..
