is this a possible swap??

my 2005 had myclolor and i really liked it mainly for the Info Center screen.

i sold my 05 to find something newer with lower km

i have come across a 09 that's everything i want but does not have the my color or leather wrap steering wheel

is it possible to buy a my color cluster and the 3 buttons and swap this in
?

anyone has any insight that would be great.

Thanks.

Look behind the spot where the buttons mount, and if there is a wiring harness there, you should be able to do the swap. On my '07, the harness actually plugged into the back of the blank plate that takes the place of the buttons.

i will have to take a look when i go to test drive the car, but i assume it has the harness according to what most guys on other forums say, just V6s need an additional harness to make it work.

Thanks.

OMG...this has been covered MANY MANY times...please use the search button. Lot's of info available on this subject.

But to answer your question...it's an easy swap.

new guy here but to let you know you can in fact get a new mycolor instrument cluster from your dealer for 389 with message center and the switch for 98 dollars. the core however is 300 dollars and its not guaranteed to get taken off as the cluster has to go back to ford and if they dont approve of it then your paying almost 700 for the mycolor cluster. i was just looking into it as my new 05 GT has only 5K miles on it.

yeah my dealer can get them. switches and all. i know this is an old post so im not sure if your saying really to the content of my post or the fact that i revived a month old thread but either way you can definitely get mycolor guages new from ford and you tell them the mileage and they will program the new ones to say your mileage.

No, not all V6's need the additional harness. My 05 V6 has the plug going into the blank switch like Roddy. I remember reading on another thread where depending on the year, you may not have the plug. I want to say it started in 08, but I'm not entirely sure.

/Sarcasm. I'm guessing you missed the post about this being covered many times before.

I have a problem. I bought a mycolor cluster and the mileage doesn't match the old cluster. Anyone know if the cluster can be reprogrammed to reflect the correct mileage?

Yeah it can but pretty sure you have to take it to Ford and have it certified. I think this was asked when someone wanted to change out their stock cluster (vinyl part) for the 200 mph Saleen one.

Needles are already painted/dyed red.

The needles appear to be made from transparent red acrylic with a white base on the bottom to dissipate the color throughout the needle. Changing the LED under it isn't the issue...it's the red acrylic.

I'm sourcing out the necessary plcc-4 blue led's. I currently have plenty of red. That pic that Charlie Sheen posted is his non-Mycolor cluster that I converted over to red. It's a REAL PITA due to the 4 tiny solder points on each LED.

I saw some yellow pointers on eBay...part of a set to change the overlay in an F150...there may be other needle colors available.
