Help me choose a suspension setup

Just my $.02. No lap times or scientific data, but I have the bmr full length sfc's and the difference is unquestionably significant - as in, there are maybe a handful of bolt-ons that, alone, make this much of a change in the way the car drives. The car seems to take a set quicker and...

FRPP M-18000-C vs Koni yellows ?

I doubt it. I'd bet the only real difference is probably valving. Also, the FRPP's had no "clicks" in the adjustment, but rather a continuous range of eight full turns. Not sure about d-spec's.

BMR K-Member and A-Arms on Road Courses?

Specifically for this reason, Shelby offered plates that weld to the floorpans, between them and the rear k-member mounts. The plates also weld to the sfc's. They seem to be keeping the floorpans straight so far. IMO, with the chassis brace, the BMR k-member seems to add stiffness up front (i.e...

FRPP M-18000-C vs Koni yellows ?

False. They are spec'd by Multimatic and built by Tokico for Ford Racing - says so right on the shocks. The FRPP dampers have OE length housings, which isn't good on a lowered car. FWIW, I had the FRPP adj dampers and K springs. I now have H&R RSS c/o's which are mono-tube with shortened...

New Alignment Parts From Ford Racing

Any known failures on an s197, or are we just throwing this out there? As mentioned above, the Ford bolts are a lot nicer (stronger) than others. IIRC these bolts can be torqued to OE spec. Camber bolts allow for additional negative camber without affecting the kpi/caster ratio. At least...

Watts Link for improved street manners

Actually, I'm kinda crushing on Nate Stacy's car. Seriously though, there are lots of good drivers out there. The reason why the things Martin says carry so much weight (at least with me) is he's not just a good driver. He was a chassis engineer with Ford until '04. There's a very good chance he...

Watts Link for improved street manners

WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! Everything you said makes sense, and the .02% is a very good point that I was overlooking. But I wasn't using his car as a model, nor was I even implying that he's necessarily right. A few of you are on a whole other level of knowledge, pertaining to the s197 and...

Watts Link for improved street manners

That's what I've noticed as well. I only know of the Kenny Brown PHB (only 3 RCH positions) and the Steeda one (weld-in), and they both have their drawbacks. I can see what you mean, but Kelly's point made sense at the time too. Now I'm questioning my own judgement. :goofy_batman: If I...

    S197 A Fastback ? Opinions needed.

Then technically the s550 is a fastback and the s197 isn't.

Watts Link for improved street manners

I agree that the cambered axle is most likely the majority of the gains. "Standard" is -1.5 degrees, and they can go up to -2.5. Also, in any/all of the pics I've seen of their cars (Roush, Stacy, Martin), they're running the pivot in the second hole from the bottom, which puts the RCH about...

    S197 A Fastback ? Opinions needed.

This. The rear of the 05-09's is definitely alluding to the 65/66 fastbacks on the outside, but on the inside, the early fastbacks had a rear seat and package tray area that was quite a bit different than the coupes. The rear interior of the s197 is all coupe, even with the Boss LS seat...

Watts Link for improved street manners

I read a quote from Rehagen Racing where they claimed a one-second average reduction in lap times from the combination of the watts link and cambered axle they run. They're at the top of the food chain in terms of consistency and well sorted, so I have to believe that at best a watts link could...

Busted a strut clean in half

@Pentalab I see the struts were on the car since 2011. Just curious as to how many miles (and/or track hours) were on them and if your car is dual-purpose or mostly a track car.

Write-up: installing a separate clutch fluid reservoir

The a/c leaves very little space. How did you mount yours and which reservoir did you use?

Caster and camber. They replace one of the a-arm bolts at the rear bushing per side. Allowing the a-arm to be rotated in or out, moving the ball-joint forward or back. IIRC, one of the mounting holes on the OE k-member is slotted as well.

Deal of the day for 05-14 owners

Yes, all parts combined, the car feels more solid, takes a set quicker, etc. I have a BMR k-member, rad-sup, chassis brace, a-arms, a-arm brace, sfc's, front ds loop, phb and brace, lca's and brackets, uca and brace, Shelby floorpan plates (connecting the sfc's to the k-member), rear stb (not...

Deal of the day for 05-14 owners

they're or their? We all acknowledge that the aftermarket phb braces are unnecessarily overbuilt. The only benefit is cosmetic. Same for the STB. Came stock on my car and looks hella cool (with the serial no. and "Bullitt" on it and all, so sexy). If there's a performance benefit (i.e. the...

Anecdotal accounts don't make this part any less useless in terms of performance. You should really stop posting and let the grown ups talk.

Wow. Your ignorance is epic. Even the casual reader can see that. Good luck with your opinions.

Deal of the day for 05-14 owners

I posted here to counter the bullshit being spread about flimsy phb braces. I don't care how you spend your money, but just don't misinform the casual reader in the process. You're just butt-hurt about being wrong on the facts. Notice how you keep deflecting from them? Move on.

Deal of the day for 05-14 owners

My statement wasn't at all confusing, so... We do know what it's for, and we also know that the factory piece is sufficient even in extreme applications. Yes, off the car the aftermarket piece is glorious. In fact, on the car (statically) the OE piece does feel flimsy. Inside of it's intended...

Deal of the day for 05-14 owners

So the weight is relative but the term "flimsy" isn't? Even the CJ cars run OE phb brace. The only aftermarket phb brace that makes sense is the BMR one. That's because the bend adds clearance for those who need it. "Flimsy" is a marketing term when talking phb braces.
