UNSOLVABLE 3V problem ive been dealing with

Also does your engine have the updated cam followers and hydraulic lash adjusters with the smaller oiling holes?

UNSOLVABLE 3V problem ive been dealing with

Sup eeston you got a complex problem going on. These engines rattle and tick but pretty tough too. Oil pressure is key here it's gotta be. Unplugging the vvt sensor changed the pressure delivered to the phaser right? If there is an oil blockage in the vvt solenoid area, when the ECM signals more...

    Missing on cylinder 1

That intake is nice it makes the 281 look huge ha. Possibly corrosion in the sockets for fuel injector plug I don't know how water tight that mod is. Make sure your ground wires have solid metal to metal contact. If you have an extraction tool for the injector plug wires you can pop them out and...

2006 GT- How is ambient air temperature measured?

Thanks for the help it's much appreciated. IAT is built into MAF on these but ambient air temperature is a bit tougher to figure out. That diagram is exactly what I needed. If I look up ambient air temperature sensor for this car it will actually show that there is one! Some mustang years do and...

Thanks RoninGT I'll go for round 2 inspection

2006 GT- How is ambient air temperature measured?

Thanks Pentalab. It's looking like I'm going to have to buy a Haynes manual so I can reference some wiring diagrams to confirm that my 06 has a sensor or doesn't. I reference my live data on my scan tool and it definitely doesn't update instantly. I found a post that talked about the ECM...

2006 GT- How is ambient air temperature measured?

I have torn the front of my car apart looking for an ambient air temperature sensor and have not found it. I have traced all wiring at the front end. Does the ECM use a table and not a sensor?

Sup Chris1 welcome. I just recently joined too and people are really helpful/knowledgeable.

    New guy from Florida

Welcome to the club. I have BMR lowering springs on my 06 GT (1.5" lower all around) and I'd say you probably have the same.

2009 4.6 rough idle and white smoke

Maybe it's an intermittent connection at the camshaft position sensor for that bank. That would be easy to check

    Missing on cylinder 1

Sup 07Boss so you have swapped coil packs, got a fresh spark plug, and verified fuel injector is working. I would suggest taking a look under the valve cover and see if there is excessive play at the 3 roller followers for cylinder #1.

    Battery light?

If that is the correct plug you could backstick pin 1 w/multimeter set to DC- if there is voltage then ECM is showing dummy light I believe. I think it's worth a shot.

2009 4.6 rough idle and white smoke

I just looked up those codes and P0022 is bank over retarded (unfortunately timing may have been set incorrectly on that bank). P2020 is dealing with IMRC (intake manifold runner control) so if you want take a look at the back of the intake manifold where IMRC rods/links connect and make sure...

2009 4.6 rough idle and white smoke

Is it thick lingering white smoke or is the smoke visible and dissipates quickly? I have an 06 w/160,000 miles w/LT headers no cats and straight piped and I get a little white smoke even in warm weather. My engine DRINKS oil from driver's side PCV hose. I have also recently done the not so fun...

AAT Sensor Location and Fuel Tables Wisdom Needed

I still have charge motion control plates that I can hear moving sometimes they are so clanky and I can hear air being sucked into them where the rod for the plates sticks out at the attach point on the back.

AAT Sensor Location and Fuel Tables Wisdom Needed

Agreed I'm getting an oil catch can for driver's side. I've considered removing PCV system but does that come w/risk of contaminating oil w/gas from the combustion mix that leaks past piston rings? I don't know how much of an effect that change would make.

AAT Sensor Location and Fuel Tables Wisdom Needed

Thanks Dino. I just recently did a timing job on my mustang at 160,000 miles and it runs great but man that was a job. I also replaced hydraulic lash adjusters and roller followers with the updated design that has smaller oiling holes to help the oiling system. My engine DRINKS oil through the...

    New member need help

I say my engine is rich because commanded lambda in OL is .85-.98 while the fuel trims are these values (I have a Dyno tune so idle for me will be different than idle for you) but lean codes (+fuels trims) could be fuel, air intake/vacuum or lack of it, and spark I don't know for sure but I...

    New member need help

You can check STFT/LTFT at idle with a scan tool just to see what the ECM is giving the engine. My car has +22 LTFT at idle w/CAI and LT headers (straight pipe). It idles well though it's just SUPER RICH. It will also give me a low idle when I hit the clutch to come to a stop and I hit the...

AAT Sensor Location and Fuel Tables Wisdom Needed

Does ambient air temperature affect fuel tables/lambda commanded by the ECM? My car will command a lambda of .85 to .98 when it switches to open loop at idle and I'm not sure about AAT's role in determining what the ECU wants the engine to have so it will be happy/efficient.
