2006 Mustang with Pony Package, fog lights not working?

Just picked up an '06 V6 with stock pony package fog light set up but the fogs don't work. Checked out the wiring and everything looks OK and the switch seems to be good and I checked the mini relay marked "fog lights" but still nothing. The car does appear to have had some minor body work done and the left drivers side headlight appears to have been hand wired in with wire connectors but the harness leading to the fog lights looks all stock. Any ideas what I should look for? Do the light switches go bad on these?

The foglights are controlled by the SJB it is a feature that can be enabled/disabled. So, if the SJB was replaced, foglamps maybe disabled.

Time to troubleshoot. If you have a VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter) trace voltage and continuity. It's a fairly simple circuit so read up and follow the trouble shooting steps (Diag/testing) to narrow down the problem area/issue and let us know what you find.

I do have a voltmeter so I will give it a shot. Not sure what the SJB is, something to do with the switch?

OK, Smart Junction Box. When I searched this problem, I saw this mentioned several times, what the hell is it and where is it located?

SJB is located in the kick panel of the passenger footwell. It gets corrupted often because the cowl drain will back up and drain back into the cabin, right on the SJB

Ok, thanks, I think I saw a picture of it somewhere. So, it is in where the fuse panel is and from what I remember to the rear of the fuse box. This car did have the water problem from the clogged drain so it may have gotten wet. Can the SBJ be dried out with a hair dryer or something or is it junk if it got wet which seems unlikely since everything else on the car works fine. Is it an easy thing to replace and are the SBJ's on a V6 car the same as one from a GT?

After doing some research it looks like Ford does not make the part anymore although some said dealers may have some for the 05-06 years. It was also stated you have to match it with a car that has the same options on your car which is not easy to do if you are getting it from a boneyard. Someone was mentioning that once installed you have to take it to the dealer to have it programmed to your car. Looks like I will be living without fog lights if all this is true, not worth the trouble.

No need to even use the SJB, if you're ok with running a wire or two.
The circuit is pretty simple: the light switch fog-lamp mode (pull-out), tells the SJB to ground the foglamp relay in the BEC (underhood fuse box, "bussed electrical center"). Wiring from there goes through the front harness along the radiator support to the foglight connectors near each of the lights.
Now, if the car was a base V6 and did not have the fog lights stock, it's probably missing the SJB wire or the function inside the SJB. My v6 did not have foglights, and I wanted to use a foglight relay and fuse in the BEC, so ran a couple of wires to make it all work properly, bypassing the SJB.
IMO, no need to change a SJB just because of fog lights!

Good luck and keep us posted :)
