and did it make the gains they claim over stock . The reason I ask is that I have the 2.5 cowl hood and with this intake and the cowl hood these guys claim almost a 30hp gain ( that I do not beleive ) but I would like to see some real world impressions of this "POWER PIPE".

Well the intake "pipe" my Procharger came with is actually a very very sturdy plastic... I don't see that thing collapsing under boost and hindering any air being drawn into the blower... I just don't see gaining anything by switching that "pipe" out for the power pipe... If it were collapsing then yeah I could see it helping but the ones that come with it are huge and flow a lot of air... It would definitely work on ststems with a smaller intake tube or a weak one that collapses... Not on this system anyway... I did see a slight difference in intake temps when I put on my hood... I put on a California Dreamin' hood(ram air with about a 1.5" cowl)...

Also, I have never seen this particular one n person but I figure that rubber elbow would collapse before the hard plastic tube that came with the Procharger...

I personally don't see the benefit. Any cold air intake made out of metal is going to hold more heat than one made out of plactic. I have one of Prochargers earliest kits that came with the steel intake tube, and later I bought the plastic which does run cooler.

Prochargers guys claim that although the filter is mounted in what seems like a "hot" area, that actually there is not a great build up of underhood temps while the car is in motion.

Data logging air intake temps supports their claim.

I installed it but not have done a before and after tune with it due to other issues with the car. I had the early kits with the metal pipe and this one looks much better and has a bigger filter then stock. Its like 20% bigger and will fit with the stock hood with allot of tweaking. It will let more air in (even if its hot). I have a better hood to help with that.

I heard of someone making something up but there was a pretty sharp bend. I would just get a bigger filter and a hood that will cool things down a little.. ohh wait.. I did that :bigbeer:

remember.. your going though a pretty good air-air intercooler. If you done the other things and still want to cool the air more then procharger does have an upgraded intercooler for sale, but I think its for 800hp+. theres also meth/h20 injection if you want to chance that.. Dont let the twin screwballs get to you. You made the correct choice! I just with I could make the right choice in tuners :kill:
