Totally pumped! Pics pics pics!!!
Any progress on this beast?
I heard about this build on IMBOC.com
Awesome. I had to joint up and subscribe!
I love V8 conversion pick ups.
what all would someone have to do to do a v8 swap on a ford ranger? ive got an 07 ranger stx that i thought of doing that too and am curious what all needs to be removed or relocated to do that. i have a 2.3 dohc in it right now and it gets that lil truck movin right along but i would love to drop a v8 down in it and have a Frank-n-Ranger to play around with. i noticed the truck you're showing has a bakflip tonnue cover on it which i also installed on my truck about a month ago lol.
i already know i would have to change out the harness and most likely the computer as well as beef up the suspension, brakes and drivetrain to handle the extra jump in power. im planning on giving it a 2inch drop already which would help it hold the road better as well. eventhough the continental extreme contact 18s i have on it stick to the road really well already. heres what i want to put it in
Theirs a lot more to this swap then just a swap.
We just got the custom made header's back from being made to fit this. We have to mark up the mid pipe for it next.
What took so long was the custom steering rack and knuckle we had to have made.
If I were you, I'd look into doing a 3.7L swap. That's 300+ horsepower. Just have to find a donor 2011+ Mustang V6 and trans. You'd need to whole wiring harness to include the PCM. But if I were going to do this on my own, without a shop doing it, I'd use the 3.7L. When you want/need more power, just put a blower on it. With the smaller motor, the logistics of the swap would be a bit easier I would imagine.
What prompted you guys to get a custom steering rack made. Was the steering shaft in the way, or was the rack hiting the oil pan.
Love the build, i'd like to do this swap my self. Are you guys going to come out with some kind of kit or motor mounts.
