Want to weld my housing to my differential and am getting conflicting info on whether the housing is cast steel or iron. Any advice on how others do it?

My 05 Mustang Gt auto tranny is toast, motor has 147k. Bought a 2007 4.6 and auto trans with 77K. Motor has Detroit Rocker cams, CAI with tune and long tube headers. Can I use the 07 ECU? Or do I need to stick with the 05 and by another SCT tuner and install a new tune ?
