I have an 2006 Mustang GT with D1 polished ProCharger last dynoed at 500 rwhp 440 tque. I need to get the block built to take the over 500 hp at the track and daily driving. Should I replace the internals with better parts or get a block with forged parts already installed. Let me know what you think. I am looking to do this over the winter.

I am buying a block already built A) because my stock block broke and B) I don't trust anyone within 1000miles to build a motor for me.

If there are any reputable builders in your area I would buy a rotating assembly and have them build it for you. That way you can still use your stock block.

if your not planning on going really crazy with horsepower you can keep the stock block but if your gonna be doing a lot of track time and high horse power then a block wouldn't be a bad idea.

Stock blocks will handle 800+ unless it's got some weak spots from the factory, just depends on how you want to go about it. You'll end up with the same money in it either way.

thanks guys I don't see very many track times (maybe a few). My car is a weekend cruiser and don't beat the car up. I just don't want a hole in the block.

I wouldn't risk the chance of it with that much power. This engines are not god's in any way. It either a hit or miss. I would def upgrade your internals. Better be safe then sorry. Give Bob at CE Racing a call. He built mine and many friends of mine as well. Also, their is Dez Racing in Seakonk.

I would go through Dez if I do it local since he did the ProCharger install. I had Bob do a engine swap in a 99 gt a while back. I great dealings with CE Racing to.

Weather or not to build your stock block depends on weather or not you can afford to have your car down while the block is being built. If you can afford the down time I would just build the stock block.

Yea I can have the car down for as long as it takes since its not a daily driver. I will check pricing on internals soon to see what price range I will be in. Thanks all

I pieced mine together, trying to find deals along the way. I wish I would have just bought one pre-built.

Campbell Automotive has a pretty nice shop. They are in Edmonton.
There is a guy in Innisfail that I know. He built a pro-stock car in his shop when I worked there for a summer in school. Engine was probably worth $120000....

If I had to do it again, I would go local. Easier to deal with....

from all I've read, and a few guys I know who got quotes, it doesn't seem to save much to swap the internals vs getting a built block from Livernoise/BBR/JDM. the one caveat being, if your doing the work yourself. then you can save 1000-1500ish.
