I'm similar situation, my car is street driven as well and also driven to the track, no trailer. I'm in a wheelchair and drive with hand controls so also have an automatic. For brakes I have 4 piston StopTech on front, stock calipers on rear, rotors are Frozen Rotors Cryo Slotted on front, Roush slotted on rear. Pads I use Ferodo Racing DS2500 on all 4 corners. No cooling ducts on mine.I picked the Roush suspension because the car is regularly street driven. It exceeded expectation on-track. So now I am trying different tires. I think as I get more comfortable with the car, I will find I need bigger brakes! It never ends.
I am running DTC 60 pads on 11&up 13" rotors. With cooling ducts ofcourse.
Ooof.... I kept skipping the videos forward, thinking it was an out lap or cool down? No, JJ is just coasting, coasting, coasting.
Watch JJ's videos and *remember his pace* when he gives his regular opinions about parts/consumables. I am going to continue to counter his many posts because he consistently gives BAD advice. I don't think he does so maliciously, he just doesn't know any better. Dunlop Sportmaxx are not good track tires. Micky Thompson tires are total garbage. Roush shocks & lowering springs are low end / barely better than stock.
JJ, I don't like picking on you - but you post so much, and I fear people might follow your bad advice, promoting poorly chosen parts or consumables. "They work for you" because you are 20 seconds a lap off of Miata pace, in a supercharged Mustang. Post less, read more, and please get a driving coach.
If you read the post close enough I wasn't recommending anything, just making a comparison of what we each had. I could really give a shit less about your opinion, what you think of my driving style or my pace on track. I have worked with several great instructors at both BIR and Road America, if you watch my line I hit my apex's, and I out brake just about every car in my group going into corners, so I'm more convinced you don't have a clue what you are talking about.Ooof.... Thats one of my buddies in front of me in a GT 350. I was fine with riding behind him. . Its about having fun and bringing your car home in one piece. And he did let me by a few laps later. lol. I need to buy RaceRender software so I can make videos longed than 3 minutes.Juice, on a positive note...
…great video, especially for first-time video posting. Too bad the car ahead of you didn't point you by. I thought you were probably faster in the corners but apparently had the same speeds in the straights.
Re71r has great reviews. I have not tried those yet. Or the Firestones. So I cant offer any feedback.I'm a novice driver so I don't want race tires - for now. So, Bridgestone RE-71R are the closest thing to a race tire I've seen. I'll be trying a set of Firestone Indy 500 when the season opens up again. Just experimenting.
