Ive always wanted a whipple, but the upfront cost was always a deterrent. 6k for the kit, which I hear can run ya close to 8-9k total for everything installed/tuned.

But now Ive seen the On3 turbo kit for 2k. I can get to 500hp still, and I know i still have to buy injectors, BAP, but still 3k total to get to my desired point.

I was going to order longtube headers and catless H pipe, but with a turbo I dont need them correct? Theres 1k to go against the turbo right now.

Install isnt an issue, and anything I cant do, my cousin owns a ship closeby so I have any tool I need available.

Is there anything I have to know about this kit? Ive always been into SC but never touched a turbo car before. Pros/cons?

I have always been after the whipple, but after researching turbos and its 1/3 the price, just seems too good to be true. Just want to make sure it isnt!

The On3 kit will have its nay-sayers, but I've heard plenty of plenty that run these kits with zero issues at all. Lightblade, a member on this forum, will hopefully chime in. He's running their piping with a few upgraded parts, such as the turbo, BOV, etc. Some people hate the layout of the kit, with the piping going under the A-arms and the general "lowness" of the piping.

The general consensus is that, the kit is great for the price, but a few upgrades are highly recommended. Personally, I'm planning on pulling the trigger on the On3 kit in the next few months with a different turbo than On3 supplies.

To answer your other question, you're correct about not needing LT's with the turbo. Stock manifolds.

Well if the stock turbo will get me to 500hp I am more than happy with that. I have eibach pros so may have to go to steedas or something to lift it back up a little. Whats the naysayers say about the turbo itself? Unreliable? What are the most common upgrades?

There are many threads on this, you should probably search.
But alot of people are doing fine with this kit, I'd change the turbo.

Like chiron said just do a search for on3, lots of good info on here about it. I was impressed with the quality of the kit itself for the price. I used my own turbo, bov, wg, and intercooler/coldside setup with it.

The price i would say is whats making me lean towards the on3 kit. A few members have been running the bov and turbo on3 supplies and have no issues but since they are on the cheaper side others suggest getting those upgraded. When i have a good amount of money saved up ill see if i can find a good deal on a vortech/paxton but if not ill be getting turbo'd.

We have a car at the shop that bought a on3 kit. The turbo that came with it blew within 2k miles. It was a new kit too. Thanks to Hellion, we swapped it with a Precisioin 76mm billet wheel turbo and Tubrosmart wastegate.

Every on3 kit we have seen, we have had to replace parts.

If you want a turbo kit, it's honestly better to get whats good and thats Hellion. but if your looking for another cheaper route, Vortech makes some good base kits

Just remember that you get what you pay for.

After upgrading the turbo, BOV, and wastegate, your down at least another 1.5-2k (considering that your replacing it with good quality parts). Like Lightblade did, I would also suggest upgrading the intercooler to make sure you keep the air temps as cool as possible.

If your stock block 500rwhp or less the on3 intercooler is fine. KrisR even pushed it to 600rwhp+ at 20psi. But I would upgrade it over 500-550rwhp imho.

I bought the on3 kit minus the on3 turbo, wg and bov for less than $1600 shipped. Got a Tial 50mm bov for $150 and a tial 38mm wastegate for $225. $850 for the precision billet wheel 6765 turbo. Less than 3K for all the components for a potent turbo kit. I added on and dumped the wg, built my own coldside and run a 4.5" thick fmic and a custom cai. The kit has been on the car for about a year now and havent had any issues with the on3 kit itself, i have had the piping on and off the car a few times and havent even had an issue with any on the supplied vband clamps or t-bolt clamps either.

I have had a vortech car before, and am now running an on3 kit. I can tell you I will never go back to a centri after having the turbo. BTW, running the on3 bov and wastegate with no problems here. All said and done I installed and tuned the kit with all supporting mods for right at $4k.

Ya you guys are right. Do it once, do it right. 2k for their kit or 3k and never have to look back the way Lightblade did it. And the 1k more it costs I have already saved for longtubes and hpipe which I wont need if I go this route. I have searched and read all pages of all the builds, alot of work/missing parts it seems lol but oh well.

Would anyone have the install instructions? Just to see what Im getting into.

Did you read my build? I don't think it was a lot of work at all. And I really didn't have any missing parts either. If you take your time and ask questions during the install it will go pretty easily for you.

Over 12k miles on my on3 kit with all there basic parts and no problems. I'm looking at getting a better flowing turbo but I'm going to keep all the other stuff. For the price I love the power it makes and realiabilty. My buddies cobra is making 550hp on the basic parts execpt the turbo.

if 'on 3' is something you are concidering; I have a Powerhouse 67mm w/ new compressor, black ceramic coating Im selling for 3K shipped.

Even less $, and a better 'kit', and you're getting a 1000$ ceramic coated job literally FREE.

PM me if interested.i

FWIW, of your 2 choices, on 3 or whipple... Id go whipple b/c on3 has alot of piping that'd be just looking to grab something; speed bump, etc...
