I will start with a little history on the car as to where it started, where it is right now just before starting the build, and everything that is going on it. The car is a 2008 mustang gt, made 261whp on big 3's mustang dyno with axleback muffler deletes. As the car sits now it made 300whp( Mustang dyno again ) withC&L street CAI, Steeda charge motion delete plates, Steeda underdrive pullies, Pypes long tube headers and off road x and the stock cat back. car was tuned with an SCT Livewire tuner by Matt at Street Stangs.

I have been going through ideas on how I wanted to boost the car and have been dead set on at least 10 different setups. there are so many different ways to boost these cars with centri blowers, roots type superchargers, tvs superchargers, and turbos that coming to a conclusion on what I wanted to do had me beating my head against the wall.

I finally decided on the Turbohorsepower single turbo kit. The kit utilizes a garret 61mm turbo, Tial 38mm wastegate, Tial 50mm BOV, jet-hot coated piping, and uses the stock manifolds. The kits are built to order so after just under 3 weeks the parts are coming in. the piping, intercooler, oil filter relocation kit, over flow bottle, brackets and other goodies arrived yesterday ( fed ex rocks for saturday deliveries ). The turbo is getting shipped from Garret which I'm still waiting on a shipping confirmation, and the couplers, wastegate, and bov will be delivered on Monday (May 23rd).

The kit is supposed to make 460whp on 6psi ( unsure on what type of dyno it made the power on ). I will start with the 6psi spring and see what it makes, and possibly put the 8psi spring in if there is room. The car will be tuned on 93oct. I am trying to keep the power under 500hp which is supposed to be the magical unicorn number at which blocks explode and atheists turn evangelical. On a serious note for every car there is the made up number to what an engine is supposed to hold and for the 3v 4.6 500whp is supposed to be it although there are people that have made more and survived and people that made less and have blown up. I figure as long as the tune is spot on and I keep good gas in it I should be fine.

I will try to keep this up to date and filled with pictures of the during process but I am really terrible at stopping to take pictures once I start working.

For the TL;DR crowd, here are some pics and a mod list.

Nice!

I believe the 'magic 500 whp' number might be a tad higher for turbo motors, sense you're not losing hp driving a blower.

thanks guys!

2blownstangs - it will eventually get a hidden foglight grille, powered by ford side badges instead of the GT ones, and maybe all the lenses tinted a little. i am a fan of just simple body mods for my own cars, i let everyone else get crazy there lol.

This is going to be a nice build! Make sure you get the dyno sheets for us to droll over! Great choice in parts too man. If you don't mind saying, what are you into it for so far?
