Hopefully someone can help me figure out what is causing this:
Under 0 vac I am randomly throwing a wrench light and the car is turning off.
It does start up and run fine after.
The car does also run lean when cold and will misfire until it warms up to operating temperature.
Mods are:
Whipple 2.3 with a 3.5" pulley.
Hot Rod Cams.
Long tubes.
Tuned by Jon Lund.

Any codes? When's the last time you cleaned or looked at your TB? Might be the TPS.

Its Random And Hard To Reproduce. It Usually Happens Aroun 2.5K And 3.5k rpms. I Have To Check TheTB. How Can I Check The TPS Wires? Could It Be The Plugs?

Hmm, no codes? Could be the stepper motor.

What Is That?

That's the silver thingy on the right side of the TB, TPS is on the left.

I just had issues where my car would run stoopid rich at startup and then tip stoopid lean when running with the cruise control on, I had replaced both front O2's with cheap aftermarket sensors so I installed Motorcraft O2's and cured that problem.

As for the wrench light, that is something on the induction side, Could be a dirty TB, bad TPS or stepper motor, something wrong with the wiring harness (I had that issue with my TVS TPS pigtail, I had a loose crimp on one of the pins, took me months to figure that out), accelerator pedal, or a vacuum leak.

If the car had been running fine, then I'd start with the TB, clean it, hit the connectors with some electrical contact cleaner and see what happens, If you have a spare TPS, couldn't hurt to swap it.

Sounds like TB, stepper motor or TPS. Couldn't hurt to clean the TB with some TB cleaner as well.

TB is weird about shutting your car down without a code, had it happen to me, along with the famous limp mode, around a dozen times over 6 years, about every 6 months. Been fine every since I changed the TPS.

I had the same problem for a while. Random fail safe modes at around 3rd gear. Turned out to be my TPS, swapped it out with a new one and no more problems. **knock on wood**

Has it always been like this or is it a new thing?
