I am starting my own thread on this because the ones I've seen here and elsewhere mention issues unrelated to my problem or the thread never found closure. Here's what I've done so far to attempt fixing this:
I've replaced the alternator with a TYC brand, and the battery is a two year old Optima Red Top. The alternator puts out .031mv of AC voltage, and the battery produces 14.3DCV at 3000rpm. The cam sensor wires and VCT solenoid wires have been tested for continuity, voltage, and frame to ground. I've also checked continuity at the MAF sensor pigtail to rule out a failed common splice point at the cam sensor and MAF sensor wires. The cam sensors have also been replaced with an Autozone brand. I've visually inspected the cam phaser reluctors for damage and found nothing. PCM has been replaced as well. If you are reading this through a mobile device and can't see the mod list in my sig, I have Livernois stage 4 turbo cams with lockouts and the setup tuned by Lito.
The car has no driveability issues and I'm not sure what else to inspect or replace besides attempting to re-time the engine and replace the Autozone cam sensors with Ford OE. I found an article mentioning to monitor the PIDs below to make sure the PCM is not trying to command more cam retard than what is allowed and to look for VCT fault codes.
RCAM, VCTFAULT, VCTERROR1, VCTERROR2, VCTDC1, VCTDC2, VCTSYS
Does this sound right?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
