Trying to upgrade my pride & joy to either the Brembo Big Brake Kit or the Ford Racing Brembo 6-Piston Brake Upgrade Kit, as listed here:

1= Brembo GT500 GT Mustang Big Brake Kit - Slotted Rotors 1B5.8001A2K (05-14 All) - Free Shipping

2= Ford Racing Brembo 6-Piston Mustang Brake Upgrade Kit - 15in Rotor M-2300-T (05-14 GT, Bullitt, Boss, GT500) - Free Shipping

Can anyone tell me for certain if these kits will work on my stock 5-spoke 19x8.5's (Part # AR3Z1007J or AR331007EB) shown here:

AM said definitely not since the calipers will not clear the spoke but said you can give a try using 1-inch spacers (http://www.americanmuscle.com/1in-billet-aluminum-wheel-spacers.html) and then "test fit"...

Problem is, I need better then a "test fit" answer if I'm going to make this investment, for who knows what the retail return policy is.. if there is one. And since I really don’t want to buy new rims! Has anyone tried this??

Please & Thank You for your HELP!

If you can afford a 1600-2500 brake upgrade, why not just get some new 19s that will clear the brakes and go with some 4 piston GT500 brembos? Would end up being around the same cost.

Aren't these the 4-pot GT500 Brembos? The ones I have listed above:
Brembo GT500 GT Mustang Big Brake Kit - Slotted Rotors 1B5.8001A2K (05-14 All) - Free Shipping

I don't really follow you though since the math doesn't add up. Another 1.5-2k for a new set of wheels in addition to a 1.7k+ brake kit is cheaper to me how?

No, that's not the right kit. The Brembos from the 07-12 GT500, 11-14 Brembo GT, and 12-13 Boss can be had for <1200.

What is your reason for wanting big brakes? If you want to go fast and stop well, get the 14" 4-pistons. The rotors are 7lbs lighter than the 15", and the consumables are cheaper. If you want the bling, get the big ones.

Those wheels will definitely not fit without a BIG spacer. Don't consider a spacer that big unless you have long front studs or if it's the bolt-on hubcentric style.

When you're going into the aftermarket, "test-fit" is the name of the game. No way around it.

A 7/8" spacer let me keep my stock 18" 8.5" wide wheels.

What wheels are you buying? You can get a set of wheels off AM for $600-800, reuse your tires, and get some GT500 take offs or get the $1200 brembo set off AM and still be under the cost of those red brembos you want. $2500 for front brakes is going to be a big disappointment for you if you just plod around town. Same for the $1600 kit. Do you know that you have to pull the rest axles to install the rear caliper brackets for the larger rotor in the $1600 kit? Get the SVT 4 pot and call it day.

I'm doing the same thing on my car.

If you are going to try and cram big ass brakes under stock wheels not meant for big brakes, you will have to be a pioneer and do some test fitting and some guess work, or just stick with upgraded pads and some new rotors.

Thanks for the lead with Vorshlag. I've already sought fitment for their brake package offered at a more reasonable price as you foretold. I'm going to insure my wheels fit by using these 1'' spacers unless you feel those aren't deep enough, there is the option for an inch and a 1/2.... what say ye?

Spoke with them and they seem extremely knowledgeable having track tested most of their components and selling only what they favor & use themselves. I think I'm definitely going to go with their front & later on, rear packages.

Question: As you'll see at the top, I began this thread asking about 1" spacers AM put me onto & included a link to the hubcentric style that you recommended. Do you think the 1" will do it or should I opt for the 1.5"?

This is a general question I pose to the forum on the whole because in my limited understanding of spacers, that seems a bit aggressive considering most spacers beyond 7/8" tend to be fairly uncommon in practical application. Instead, they appear to be in place merely as a substitute for wide body aesthetics instead of actual wheel fitment purpose

Or am I off base again... please advise! Cheers
