I didn't know there was a torque spec for plugs so I just snugged mine down. So far so so good!

I've read a few things about plugs, at least the 14mm functional plugs these engines got in mid 08:

- once installed and removed, they are done, the plating on the threads is designed to keep them from seizing. It comes off or is compromised when you remove the plugs.

- no anti seize, not nickel or copper

- use a torque wrench

- keep the wells and threads as clean and dry as possible

Maybe I'm old school but I pull my plugs probably 2-3 times a year and check them out. Got one of those little lighted magnifying thingies and give them a visual every once in a while. This accomplishes a couple of things. One, many times you can discover issues or give you peace of mind. Two, which is especially important for the high thread design plugs, they will never get stuck. I realize that today's motors can go 10's of thousands of miles without plug changes, but it is still a good habit to check them occasionally and you will never have the issues associated with them seizing or breaking.

Actually the revised plugs the 3v engines got in mid 08 were 12mm.. Ford went back to standard size from the old 4.6 2v/4v days prior to 2005..

I never did get a definitive answer so I'll ask here. What is the gap spec for the 08 and newer plugs?

So this is unrelated but this is what I pulled from a different cylinder. Anyone else seen a plug like this?
