It appears that ford has redesigned the spark plugs for 2008 giving them full depth threads and a standard ground strap.

Can someone with an 08 pull one and confirm this?

Hmm, if they did change the spark plugs, I wounder what other changes they made to the 08 heads? And if we would be able to use them on 05-07 blocks.

Keep in mind that I have no independant confirmation of this yet which is why I'm asking if anyone can pull one out.
May this be a mid year change and if so what is the starting date?
This may make purchasing heads more complicated in the future?
Any casting or part numbers?

Very true. I'm just really interested in what all would have been changed if they did indeed change.

I doubt it since it was brought up by another vendor who is coming out with COP's and no it's not JR.
He seemed a little unhappy that he may need 2 different boot designs for the 2 types of plugs.

That's what I'm thinking. And Ted - That wasn't the tech you spoke with, that was a service writer.
Or a v6 plug:samuri:

I can't imagine why Ford would redo the heads at this point? I suppose the warranty service on broken plugs might be adding up?

I have an '08. It has the plugs that you have pictured on the bottom. Yes, we still have the expensive ones.

Here is the spark plug out of an 08 Bullitt. Car was built on 02/08.

The HJFS 24FP is the part number. SP509 is the motorcraft number. $10 each thru my local motorcraft supplier.
