Wow a old school plug didn't see this coming
And in the middle of model year too - that'll be fun... Just like the oil level/temp sensor that you have to order with the engine code to get the right one...

I wonder if the aftermarket head guys will start machining and tapping the existing heads?

Well, this certainly makes things a little more "fun" for the mod world...

My 08 has a build date in Aug 07 and uses the HT1/HT0 style plug design with full strap for the OEM ones.

It's confirmed. There are separate part#'s for the heads between 07 to mid 2008. I'm trying to confirm build dates and cutoffs.

So I'm woundering if the new heads will work with the old engines.

Looks like they will. This is going to get really screwy though. 1st, Ford changed the valve covers, now they actually change the heads to allow for the change in the spark plugs. The aftermarket crowd is going to be pissed as well as the consumers. Oh well...

I wish they would have gone with this spark plug from the start!

Montreal Qc,
For most of us hardcore enthusiasts it shouldn't make much of a difference since we are aware of the plug issues and how to prevent them.

For most buyers however this will be a good thing.

Ohh, and the cheaper spark plugs would have been nice too, and they are much easier to gap then ours are too.
