I figure it was that or when the hood flexed while on the prop-rod.

My choices now:
Put a piece of plexiglass over the hole
Get the TruFiber B429 hood painted and put that back on
Steal one of Ted's yellow hoods and paint it black
Mount the B429 scoop to my original hood
Push the car over a cliff and buy a used Civic

You'd look good in a Civic!:thumb:

I'd probably go with the Trufiber B429 hood.

Well, I'll have mine attached to the hood in the next couple days or so. We'll see how well it does.

Another choice: cut a piece of sheet metal or aluminum to cover the hole in the hood, then mount the scoop to that, with or without venting to the blower. Front scoop bolts will be needing attention but I haven't given up on this yet.

I will not be denied!

I thought about that aproach as well, but I'm going to give the modified plastic base a try first. Unfortunately, I didn't get it back together before I took the car to Adam on Saturday, but eveything is cut and ready to go (I just need to find some smaller rivets).

I think the plastic broke because I mounted it to the trim ring while the hood was on the prop rod - the hood was probably tweaked a little in that position. After dropping the hood a couple of times it let go.

Anyways, on to Phase VI. I'll ceramic coat this base plate and mount the scoop directly to it.

Make sure you post up the finished pics.

BTW, I think I'm going to remove my hood completely when I attached the shaker to it. Hopefully, it won't crack later on.

What kind of times are you seeing with the new SYT there? Great picture of it by the way, did you lower it?

Now that's using your head!!! Another excuse to drink beer. Use the empty cans to prop up the scoop in your oven. Pure Genius!!!

That was exactly as you've described it. There was also a small piece of foil involved so the ink/die on the cans didn't stick to the ceramic paint. It's an old family recipe.

This is the thread I was looking for. haha. I meant to do a search but forgot to or something I guess. I was gonna say some guy at my local track had his shaker attached to the top with a KB under the hood. It looked kinda strange at first, but it wasn't off center or funky looking. And it held up pretty well going through the traps at 122..

That's the way Don had his. I couldn't do it that way because of the location of the s/c pulley on the 2.3 Whipple.

Fuck, just saw your sig. :beerchug2:

ah, I see. That's why the thread is labeled whipple and shaker, not TS and shaker. I just went back and started reading the posts on this thread. In all reality, I thought I was the only person on earth who thought of a TS and shaker hood, lol, then saleen had to go make that damn super shaker. it even has a cooler name than I would have given it.

Is the pulley location different only on the 2.3, or could this apply to all whippled cars?

oh and yeah, haha, I actually did a search for it a while back. Def one of the funniest things i have ever read!!! lol.

Not sure.

However, if someone had a Whipple, and THEN wanted to add the Shaker, it could be done like Don's was with the KB. You would need to make the hole in the hood about 1-1.5" forward though so that the water trough would clear the pulley. Bottom trim ring would require some modification as well.
