anyone recovered stock knob?

mine started peeling so i ripped off the leather and cleaned off all the glue residue i could. i know i could just purchase another knob, but sort of want to try something on my own i guess. so has anyone here recovered the stock gt shift knob? got a few ideas but figured i'd see what else has been done

gave it a shot, found it to be a pita, so i'll be ordering a new knob
