Picking up the assembled and milled heads and the milled delete plates tomorrow. Starting to get excited!

I will check the clearances tomorrow evening and get everything sent to get coated on Thursday if the head CCs and the clearances check out.

I'm excited for you Billy; can't wait for all of us to get together at the track in a few months to show off the new setups.

Did you ever get the heads flowed?

No, the local guy that I had planed on using took a automotive teaching job at a local collage. I am still going to try and find someone to do it before the final assembly of the motor.

Here is an update on the heads.

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1959141#post1959141

I have the block ready to go to the machine shop on Monday to get honed for the new pistons with all the ARP hardware installed and the crank as well to get balanced for the new pistons also. The pistons will ship to Polydyn on Monday also to get ceramic coated top.

Tomorrow I will port the delete plates to match the heads.

I also will start on the rear seat delete this week. I found nice piece to save some time on the rear aluminum. The bottom will be made in my shop and then both will be covered in carpet to match the interior. Then maybe tackle heater box removal after that.

And this to make the 5 pt harness fit better.

Is the machine shop honing at operating temp? That's what we finish hone our block for a better seal.

I would think the cylinder would be at a higher temp when honing then operating temp no? Either way it will be done the std way with the correct plate. They don't preheat or anything like that.

If I want going to cover it in carpet I would go that route! That is nice looking work there. I do sheet metal work for a living and have access to a couple large sheet shops that I install for. The only reason I bought the one pc I posted above was to save some time. The layout in the back glass area would take some time to get it right. The lower part at the base is easy enough to make and the door wouldn't be very hard either if I decided to go that far.

No it shouldn't if they use honing fluid to lube the stones.

I received the Moroso pieces for the seat delete and made a piece for the lower side today. I will install it tomorrow and remove the roll bars. After it is in I will start the layout for the bars to go back in with the seat saver bars and the 10 point cage. I still need to find some light weight carpet. I have decided to go black with the seat, carpet, factory carpet.

Here is a update on the heads. We are getting serious now boys!

That Moroso/Comp. Engineering kit is bullshit! It fits well but is .032 alum (maybe .030 I have not measured it) and is way to thin for what I want. It needs to be .040 at min. I also decided that I need to wait till I do the 10 pt cage later this year to do the delete as my rear bar will change to the seat saver type when the cage goes in. if I do it know I will just need to redo the carpet later. That being said, the car is ready for what ever I use. I relocated the two harnesses that run under the seat that feed the trunk area along with my battery cables and all the wires I have going to the trunk. Only problem is I had to cut the harnesses to move them past the rear bars that go through my rear seat. LOT OF SOLDERING! That is all done now and the rear seat will go back in without all the belt, hardware, ect.

I dropped the heads off at a local shop to get put on a flow bench and see where all my hard work has gotten me. While there I found that they also does balancing and my assembly is there and just waiting on the pistons to ship from Polydn tomorrow from getting the tops ceramic coated. I also found out that the same said shop has a loaded Dynojet and will rent it to me on Saturdays to tune remotely with Manuel. I had herd about this guy a while back and could never catch him at his shop. Turns out he had taken a job teaching auto mechanics at the local Jr collage, but is still at the shop on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays when need be. I have a cell for him now and feel things just got a lot easier for me on the dyno end of things.

Seems like a good day to assemble an 1100 hp short block... :evillaugh:

Picked up the balanced rotating assembly last night and will get started assembling the short block today after I clean the garage up some.

The heads are getting the seats recut and a full valve job this week, so next weekend I can finish the motor assembly.

I still have to plumb the fuel cell and wire the pump along with finishing the wiring inside the car from removing all the N2O stuff in the console. May work on that some tomorrow.

Also picked up a racing seat from summit.
