They are junk.

We stopped carrying them b/c they break all the time. We replaced more than we sold to customers. They crack along the top causing them to fail.

We now only carry the MSD Coil Packs. They are $389

Just some FYI

I've had my new ones still boxed up for over
three years now.The issues that many have
had,I just dont feel confident in running them.

And...I wont bother selling junk to others,so I'm
stuck with a box of new coil packs..thanks JR lol

I have run GMS and MSD. The original GMS COPs failed a lot. The new GMS design works fine for me. I have run them for over a year withouit issue. The MSD work fine too.

Anyone actually gain any hp from these?

Picked up a 1/10th in the qtr switching to the COPS.

J/K, not knocking GMS, but I've heard of a lot of issues on Modular Fords, Here, and another forum about running aftermarket coils and everyone seems to use the stockers without fail.

Slap on a Kenne Boost-A-Spark and you're good to go.

old thread but still looking for an answer... bump
Hi Joe,

I don't know if they actually add more H/P or not.

But, I am running the MSD one's.

This is just my (opinion) and NOT based on Hard-Fact like as an example.
Doing a Dyno Run with Stock Coils and then Switching to the MSD Coils
and doing another Dyno Run to see if there was a difference.

But, I think if one was running a Blower, Turbo etc. these might very well
do better than Stock as these have a Hotter-Spark. So, that would mean
maybe two things.
(1) No Blown-Out Flame.
(2) Better Response as you have a Hotter Flame to burn the Mixture with
under Pressure.

There is one thing for sure (Opinion) they cannot Hurt, so why not run them.

Nice, if i were to get some i would definitely go with the MSD ones... just a bit pricey and not much information on them.

Maybe i'll try them out and see how it goes

I had serious spark blowout when I installed my Vortech blower a few years ago. Switching from the factory spark plugs to copper/colder FRPP 3V0's really helped, but there was always a hint of spark blowout in extreme situations and the car was never silky smooth. Still enough to run an 11.85 @ 113+, but not factory, silky smooth.

Fast forward to now. I decided to try hotter coils and just installed the GMS "hot street" coils. They aren't terribly expensive ($250), so I figured it couldn't hurt to try and I have the stock coils just in case. They are rated to produce 45K volts vs the stock coils rating of 20K volts.

I gotta tell you that the car runs silky smooth now! Excellent tip in with no hesitation like I always had with the blower & factory coils. I've gotta get to our local dyno and dragstrip to see if there's any more power being made, but just having the car run smoother (and a noticable improvement in fuel economy) is enough of a plus for the minimal money spent.

If GMS had problems in the past, I believe they may have fixed them. So far, color me happy with this mod.
