when we added the new blower to the car, i did some datalogging on the track,

car went lean compared to where it was normally at, i needed to bump up base fuel pressure, the car pulled from 22 to 12 degrees of timing at wot to compensate for the knock

this is at around 750 rwhp

edit
upped base f/p by 10 psi, and timing and a/f went right back where it should be

Bump base fuel pressures.............

Damn, too bad our cars aren't still return style fuel systems, we could all run FMU's.

On a serious note, what's "brilliant" to me is thinking that you can just throw whatever timing you want at it, and expect the knock sensors to save your day.

Really? UPPING baseline fuel pressures?..............OTAY BANKY!

Who taught you that? OBAMMY?:naughty1::naughty1:

You have to set your base fuel pressure at a starting point do you not?

When we went to the return fuel system, we had to take the base fuel pressure down from stock, we couldn't get the car lean enough @ 9 psi.

We then went to 13, and then 16 psi and had to make no changes as the car could compensate on it's own being a draw through system. The car would achieve and keep an .80 lambda on it's own.

With the JT Trim, the car is flowing more air. At some point from 9psi, to 16psi, and now a bigger blower, the car will only compensate to much on it's own under boost. So, you give the car more fuel, either more pressure, or bigger injectors.

I prefer the 60's and they are more than adequate for now. So, we chose to add more base pressure back in.

I'm doing the same thing as you. I've got a 3-day autocross event this weekend where it is going to be 95+ degrees ambient with 115+ on the course.

Have you priced the gas in your area? VP100 is ~$50 for 5 gal and MS109 is ~$60 for 5 gal here in Atlanta.

I'm looking to go through Purvis Bros in Mars, PA. Someone told me it was roughly $7.50-$8/gal for VP100 so $37.50-$40/5 gal.

I'll find out for sure this week.

Terry I have learned you can't reason with Mach1Marauder. He knows everything there is to know and he is always right. You should just give up now before this goes any further. One thing he is good at though is polishing rear ends.

LOL............you never said all of that. That can screw with newbs thinking that all they had to do was jack up baseline pressures to correct any leanness. Put it into the context of the thread and how you first said it. You'll see why I questioned you.:highfive:

You act like a 12 year old kid when someone gets your goat. Go get your afternoon nap in and you will feel a little better after some rest. :highfive:

You need to learn when to keep your mouth shut.
You're a slow learner, because you haven't learned in in what, 45 years?

Why don't you just move along to a wheel or a shifter thread?

Hey Mr Badass,

You gonna threaten me again like you did in the PM? I have learned in a very short time what a piece of shit you are. All I will say is if you ever have the pleasure of meeting me you won't forget it. Now like I said earlier go get your nap in so you won't be so cranky later on tonight.

He's just someone that thinks he knows how to tune since he TALKED to Lund.He just had to interject his foolishness.

You don't make blanket statements like Beefcake did in this type of thread without a little elaboration. That's how misinformation gets spread. It's not really pertinent to a N/A thread, nor to a thread with the vast majority of people on return style fuel systems. IF he had had prefaced "in my return style fuel system" bla bla bla.. It would have made perfect sense and not mislead others........unintentionally I'm sure! But BAKnBLK2010 had to get to swinging.

Well.............Back on the list for being you!:flip2:

It wasn't a blanket statement.

If you know so much about these cars, then you know you don't tune the fp on a stock fuel system it's a steady 55 psi, it doesn't have a regulator to move it up and down

Terry
Just look at the context.
SOME people crank up baseline pressures to make up for not enough injector on stock systems and we both this happens. The way you said in the first post could lead a newb to think that's what you do to correct a lean condition on a stock fuel system. Why in the hell do you think I made the comments I made? Go look at your post where I replied with the bandaid. In a returnless fuel system, what I said is correct. When I have something on my car that 99% owners don't have on their car, I try to clarify things in order make sure guys don't the wrong ideas on how things are done.
